After visiting the cathedral, it was on to the alcazar. An alcazar is a moorish castle or palace built in Spain or Portugal during the Muslim era of these countries. The Segovia alcazar started as a fortress and then was used as the royal palace.

And the armory with its suits of armor.
We finished off our Segovia excursion with a FANTASTIC lunch. We didn't have a menu for the meal so I don't know how to label each dish. However, they were all delicious. The specialty of the area is suckling pig. That was the next to last dish, followed by some sweets for dessert. Of course all this was accompanied by wine.

Our second day trip was to Toledo. At one time this was the capital of Spain and it is easy to see why. The city is easily protected. It sits on a hill and is surrounded by water on three sides. You can see the cathedral in the center of the picture and the alcazar (fortress) on the right on the highest point overlooking the river.
A few pictures of thr Alcazar.
A number of pictures of the
cathedral exterior and interior.
On our tour we visited the Jewish quarter and one of the synagogues. Below are some of the pictures of the synagogue. In the picture on the right, Granny is being assisted in her wheel chair by our guide Juan.
